Peonies

Yes, these flowers Piper are holding are peonies and they are real flowers.  They are the largest ones I have ever seen and oh, they opened right up today and were so beautiful.  My dear friend made up all kinds of gorgeous yes, oh so gorgeous flower arrangements for my nieces baby shower and wow, I now love the peonies!  (Check back for some of the pics of the arrangements in a few days.  They really were breathtaking!)  Anyways, back to peonies, so my friend said they only bloom for 5 to 6 weeks of the year.  I just did some reading on the flower and wow, not only do they only bloom that long but if you plant a bush it could take 3 to 5 years for that plant to bloom and even then you have to do all kinds of caring for it.  What a labor of love.  It makes me appreciate them all the more.  What a happy flower.  So Lindi, don’t cringe when I tell you I pulled two of these out of the large arrangement so Piper could dance around with them for some photos.  She of course loved the flowers because yes, they are pink.  Don’t worry, no harm was done to the flowers during this shoot.  They are safely back in the vase!
