Feeling Thankful

Our Thankful Tree is growing leaves.  I love Thanksgiving and I love our Thankful tree.  Each day we try to have everyone in our family write their name on one side of the leaf and what they are thankful on the other side and then hang it on the tree.  Each day they have to come up with something new and they can’t copy what someone else has written.  It is a good tradition.  I think Thanksgiving is my new favorite holiday.  No stress, it is just about gathering as a family, eating good food and being thankful.  And yes, Piper chose to be thankful for Dora today.

I am feeling grateful for such great friends that share their talents so freely with others.  Last week, as I was getting ready for Gracie’s baptism a friend offered to help me with the flowers.  What this meant for her was that she would drive down to Carlsbad, get the flowers and then create a number of beautiful arrangements for my home.  She did not ask for anything in return.  She just shared her time and talents freely.  Another friend, who we will call the Queen of Cupcakes, offered to yes, make beautiful and tasty white cupcakes for Gracie’s baptism.  To be honest I am not really a cake person and yet I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cupcakes this wonderful friend makes.  They are the best.  I only wish I had taken a photo of them before the kids found them, they disappeared fast.baptismflowers

I have been so touched by the graciousness of these two women. I could go on and on about others who have freely shared their talents but I think you get my point.  And so I have decided to put a challenge out there to anyone reading.

Your challenge for the week is to share a talent of yours with another.  Do not ask for anything in return.  When the receiver asks how they can repay you just ask them to pay it forward.  Meaning, that they should find something to do for another.  And if you are thinking to yourself that you have nothing to offer, bahumbug is what I say to you.  Everyone has something to share, whether it is a batch of chocolate chip cookies, photographing a friends child, giving business advice or what not.  You have something to offer that could make anothers day better.  So do it, this week do something for another and see what happens.
