the other day when I was taking pics of the girls Max put a hat on and ran out saying, “What about me!” So he plopped down and gave me some silly poses. I got this one showing his sweet face.
Today in church some of the women shared how they react when complete chaos starts to happen in their home. You know like two year olds throwing themselves on the ground screaming. I am always relieved to hear others have moments like this in their home too. Friday afternoon was our moment like this. Between getting the girls off to ballet and Max ready for baseball along with a million other things going on I was at my wits end. I said to my husband, “I have lost it, I am losing it!” For the rest of the evening Max kept asking me “What it was exactly I lost because surely he could help me find it. I am really good at finding things!” When I finally explained to him it was my patience I had lost he threw his hands in the air and said, “Oh, that was not my fault.” And it wasn’t. I had to laugh, turns out he did help me find it again. Sweet Max, I love this boy.
And just for laughs, I have to post this picture of Jake and Piper. I didn’t remember taking this pic but oh, it made me laugh. Looks like I need to say sorry to Jake. But in the series of pics before and after this one he is laughing hysterically as Piper puts the hat on him.
March 8, 2010 - 11:38 am - Oh good, you're not perfect!! But pretty close to it. :) With six kids, I think you have permission to lose your patience once in awhile.
March 8, 2010 - 4:42 pm - i love the story...seems like the little boys have such adult perspective...my five year old does that to me too. :-) very awesome pics too. funny.
So yes, I have more favorite shots from the magic hat shoot. Even though the hat isn’t seen in the picture it still must rubbed off, because we got so many great shots this afternoon. So here are two shots of Ellie with Grace. Both are shown in color and black and white. I am thinking of blowing one up and hanging it on my wall, perhaps even doing it on a canvas, but which one, smiling or serious faces? And in color or in black and white? Leave a comment and tell me which one you would choose? Thanks, you’re the best! Have a great Saturday!

There is one that I am leaning towards but I won’t tell which one yet, I want to hear what you think.
March 6, 2010 - 12:01 pm - They're all beautiful, but I like the first one in black and white the very best.
March 6, 2010 - 6:09 pm - Serious...Black & White
March 7, 2010 - 1:24 am - I like the first one. The placement of blue with the feathers, eyes and blouse make everything pop for me. They are all great though.
March 7, 2010 - 2:59 am - I love the first one - in color.
March 7, 2010 - 12:59 pm - I thought I liked the serious one the best at first, but after a closer look, I might like the smiling ones! Leaning towards the B&W, but the colors are so pretty....ugh, it's hard to choose!
March 7, 2010 - 7:48 pm - serious in color is my pick!!
March 8, 2010 - 1:04 am - Oh my gosh...stunning image...Serious BW...I wanna see it when you hang it ! Just gorgeous!!! p.s. I am craving your waffles and to- die- for buttermilk syrup:) xoxo
March 8, 2010 - 4:41 pm - i love them all, gorgeous...my fav is number one
March 8, 2010 - 7:39 pm - serious in black and white.... they all look amazing but that one is my favorite(:
March 9, 2010 - 5:31 pm - Smiling in color. The colors are amazing and the smiles bring out their personalities and are celebrating their happy childhood and life. Maybe that is thinking to deep for a picture, but that is what the photo says to me. Yes Sandi, your photos speak to me. Ha, ha. :)
March 9, 2010 - 5:50 pm - I am more confused then ever! Ha but I appreciate all you comments!
Excuse me as I totally indulge and post 100 pictures of my own kids. Maybe not quite 100 but a lot! Let me share with you our impromptu photo shoot with the hat.
So one day after school I asked Gracie if she wanted to pose for some photos. She said “sure” so out we went. Then Piper followed. Piper had no intentions of posing for me at all. She came to create some mischief. I grabbed this hat and asked Gracie to put it on but suddenly Piper grabbed it and ran off humming the tune to Bonanza. How does a two year old even know that song? Well she finally walked back to us with the hat on, hiding her face.
She thought she was so funny….and she was. She got us all laughing. Then she started to play a little bit of peek a boo. That is when all the fun began.

resulting in some fantastic photos catching her true personality.

And then we were all laughing hysterically.
Oh, we love you Piper Girl and your ability to make us all stop what we are doing and just laugh!
Well the day didn’t stop there. After all that she decided she was done with the hat and gave it to Grace. Grace then said “Mom take my picture.” She had struck the most perfect pose. That is when I got these fabulous shots.

And that is why I am considering this hat my lucky hat.
Thanks for looking. Have a wonderful day!
March 4, 2010 - 1:39 pm - Oh my, I am laughing out loud at those Piper pics! She is the cutest and silliest in these pictures. Grace looks beautiful as usual!

March 3, 2010 - 7:32 pm - wow is all i can say....stunning.
In my house we have banned our kids from saying “Seriously?” Let me give you an example. I would ask one of my children to help clean up a room and they would ask “Seriously?” Yes, I am always serious when I ask you to help clean up. Well, the result is that we have all been saying “Seriously,” seriously a lot more! HAHAHA. And when I look at these next pics I have to say “SERIOUSLY? is it possible to be this cute!” Love all these kiddos!

Piper was very excited last week when I told her that her friends were coming over for pictures. She was so excited she didn’t really want to sit and get her picture taken. She was more interested in playing with her buddies. She calls these particular boys “her guys”. So cute.

March 2, 2010 - 9:19 pm - Thanks Sandi, you make my boys look good! It really is amazing that you got so many good shots with all those kids running around... thanks for the fun day! Love ya!!
Twins! I had so much fun photographing twins! I usually pride myself in being able to tell these two boys apart. But this time their Momma put hats on them! This with the fact that they are in perpetual motion made it difficult to guess which was which. I so hope I didn’t just get solos of only Ben and none of Ethan!
Let’s play a little game here. Can you leave a comment and guess which is Ethan and which is Ben? I am guessing Ethan is on the left in this photo and Ben on the right. I am guessing Ben is in the photo below…..
And is this next one Ethan? I have been corrected! The one below is Ben again!
Here is one of Ethan. I figured out the shots of the boy who was on the move was usually Ethan.
When they did not want to sit still their Momma pulled out some snacks. Here they are feeding each other. Aren’t they the cutest!
Ok, Julie, Be honest. How did I do? Did I get them mixed up? I don’t dare post anymore without you telling me who is who. Thank you for bringing your boys over for some fun!
March 1, 2010 - 2:46 pm - I have the hardest time telling them apart. Usually I can tell them apart because Ethan's face is a little chubbier than Ben's, but in these pics I cant tell at all. These are absolutely adorable. Their little outfits are the cutest.
March 1, 2010 - 2:50 pm - These are my grandsons and even I am not sure who is who. I think you are right, however. The pictures are so cute. Hope to see more!
March 1, 2010 - 5:43 pm - THANK YOU, SANDI! I love how they turned out! I didn't think my boys could be any cuter, but you've proved me wrong :) I think I've found a trick for you while looking through the rest of the pictures...Ethan's shirt has come untuck in the front, probably due to all his dance moves!
March 1, 2010 - 8:26 pm - IN LOVE with these photos and these boys. "SERIOUSLY" so cute. :)
March 1, 2010 - 8:46 pm - oh my goodness, so adorable!!! love every one of them. love those outfits too! great job sandi.
March 2, 2010 - 12:28 am - I love these! You did such a good job! Man I love those boys sooooo much!

From The Fairy Tale of My Life, published in 1855
My life is a lovely story, happy and full of adventures. If, at the time when I was still a boy and going out into the world poor and without friends, a good fairy had come along and said, ”Choose your course in life and the goal of your efforts…I will guide and protect you until you attain it, ” my destiny could not, even at that time, have been guided more happily, more prudently, or more fortunately. The history of my life will reveal to the world what it tells me – there is a loving God who directs all things for the best.
